Michael Jackson’s This Is It 2009 is a film that shows the trials of Michael Jackson, preparing for its 50 concerts, also called This Is It. The footage was filmed at the Staples Center and The Forum, among other locations, all in the city Los Angeles. Is set for theatrical release worldwide on 28 October 2009 with a limited two week run. Go on sale a month earlier, on September 27, 2009 to meet expected high demand.

The film will feature a retrospective of Jackson’s career, behind the scenes segments, interviews with former friends of the pop star and 3-D sequences. The movie project is underway with the full support of the property of Michael Jackson and his executors. A live album accompanying the film, and have at least one new song.

On the night of September 13 during the MTV VMA’s 2009, was officially launched the trailer for the film This Is It, premiering in late 28 and October 29 of that year. Although tickets will be out from 27 September.

The film was made with the material recorded during the last trials of Michael Jackson, who was preparing his comeback in London. Most of the material was filmed in June 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and The Forum in Inglewood, California, when Michael Jackson was preparing his "This is it", the concert series to be offered at the O2 Arena London.

The album, titled this is  it  was released internationally on October 26, and worldwide the following day. The album debut at #1 on theBillboard 200  album chart with the sales of over 373,000 in its first week of release. The two-disc album features music ’inspired from the documentary of the same name’. Sony stated that the second disc will feature "previously unreleased versions" from Jackson’s ’catalogue of hits’ and that It will also include a spoken word poem entitled "Planet Earth ".
